Objectives
- Learning to think about cultural diversity using a multidisciplinary approach: history, anthropology, literature, sociolinguistics, law and the arts.
- Acquire the methods and techniques of different disciplines to conduct research into intercultural phenomena, gradually specialising in the social sciences or in the arts and literature.
- Understand the complexity of the heritage phenomenon and take into account the various cultural elements in the regions: archaeology, archives, architecture, arts and crafts, intangible heritage, etc.

Through seminars, workshops, fieldwork and internships led by researchers and professionals, the "Societies and Interculturality" speciality offers an M2 course entitled "Cultural Dynamics of Amazonian Societies in their Environment", which can lead to careers in research as well as in heritage and culture, based on field data and with an international outlook.

Training required
Admission to Master 1 :
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Arts, Literature and Languages or Humanities and Social Sciences
- OR hold a baccalaureate + 2 years of higher education and have at least 4 years' professional experience in an intercultural situation (in heritage and cultural professions in particular, but motivated applications from all professional fields confronted with intercultural situations will also be considered: teaching, health, social work, etc.).
Admission to Master 2 :
- Hold a Master 1 or Master's degree in the ALL or SHS field
Admission requirements
Master 1 :
Admission by right for students with a bachelor's degree in the ALL field or in the SHS field, admission by the pedagogical committee for the validation of prior experience (students who do not hold a bachelor's degree in the field, but who can prove that they have 2 years' higher education and professional experience in an intercultural situation).
Master 2 :
- Students from the M1 "Societies and Interculturalism" programme are admitted after the M1 jury has examined their application, while other students are admitted after the pedagogical committee has examined their application.
- For foreign students who have not previously obtained a diploma from a French-speaking higher education establishment, proof of DELF level B1.

Internship
A compulsory internship of at least 300 hours is carried out in an association, local authority or company working in the cultural or heritage field. As a general rule, students are encouraged to complete a 4 to 6 month placement, so that it provides them with real professional experience that can be put to good use later on.
