Objectives

Master's degree in teaching, education and training (MEEF) 1er degré is a national diploma awarded by universities. Its curriculum includes preparation for the competitive examination for school teachers (Concours de Recrutement au Professorat des Écoles - CRPE) and offers a genuine sandwich course. The coordinated involvement of professionals from the University, INSPÉ, the school world and their partners is the lever that guarantees the continuum between research, training and education.

The MEEF 1 master's course curriculumer degree is based on :

  • Versatility and multidisciplinarity
  • The ability to change scale (looking at the pupil, the group of pupils, the class, the school, the education system, etc.)
  • The principle of educability
  • Integrative alternation

Target skills

The Référentiel de compétences professionnelles de la profession enseignante aims to guide teachers in their professional development and to guide the training of future schoolteachers.

There are 13 professional skills to be mastered. Digital skills are explicitly mentioned as a cross-cutting skill.

Anyone with a bachelor's degree or 3 years' higher education is eligible to apply.

Admission requirements

Specific admission conditions apply only to VAP85 applications and to the M2 sandwich course.

Instructions concerning the application procedure are posted on the INSPE website during the annual admissions campaign. Applications and administrative registration are made online.

Programme

Choice of modern foreign language (MFL)

When registering for the course, students must choose one of the following a modern foreign language from the following options: English - Spanish - Portuguese

Choice of regional modern languages (LVR)

When registering for the same course, each student must choose a profile modern regional language(s) :

  • Profile A (discovery trail) : Introduction to several LVR (Guyanese Creole, Nenge Tongo, Kali'na)
  • Profile B (specialisation path) A choice of one optional foreign language course (Guyanese Creole, Nenge Tongo, Kali'na)

This choice will be retained throughout the training programme Master MEEF 1er degree.

18-week work placement (compulsory) spread over two years:

Objectives of the course

The placement enables the student to observe the day-to-day practice of a teacher, and then to gradually practise leading a class under the authority and with the help and advice of the host teacher.

The student trainee will be placed in a professional situation in a school (nursery or elementary) and will be able to :

  • Identify the tasks of the future teacher and the educational community.
  • Observe students in learning situations.
  • Observe the tutor in a teaching situation - temporary host teacher (MAT) or teacher-teacher trainer (PEMF).
  • Learn about didactic transposition, initial professional gestures and the construction of learning situations.

 

Skills to be acquired

  • Understanding the institutional context of the education system.
  • Take into account the characteristics of the school, its pupils, its socio-economic and cultural environment, and identify the role of all the players involved.
  • Design, implement and lead effective teaching and learning situations that take account of the diversity of pupils, particularly through activities focusing on education for health, citizenship, sustainable development and artistic and cultural education.
  • Cooperating within a team.
