Objectives

  • To train senior technical managers to strengthen and develop the wood, materials and construction industries, with the ability to develop and monitor projects in design offices or on small production lines.
  • Exploiting the properties of matter for energy purposes (storage and supply)
  • Model a device or process, using calculation software where necessary
  • Carry out physical or chemical measurements and analyse the relevance of the results
  • Develop scientific or technical devices using laboratory equipment
  • Carrying out a study according to specifications
  • Process a measurement or set of measurements to produce a result with the associated level of precision
  • Carry out measurements and analyses, collect data
  • Present and explain changes to analysis protocols and quality procedures
  • Verify using simulation, tests, calculations and systems
  • Train users on a product, piece of equipment, etc.

Target skills

  • Knowing and complying with regulations
  • Implement an experimental approach: use the measuring equipment and techniques available in the field; identify sources of error; analyse the data collected.
  • Use data analysis software
  • Use mathematical and statistical tools

Cross-disciplinary skills

  • Communicating: writing clearly, preparing appropriate communication materials, public speaking and commenting on materials ;
  • Communicating in a foreign language (written and oral comprehension and expression: level B1)
  • Working independently: setting priorities, managing time, self-evaluation.
  • Using information and communication technologies
  • Carry out bibliographical research on a scientific issue

Subject-specific skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the mechanical properties of materials
  • Characterisation and modelling of materials
  • Formation and technological properties of wood
  • Automation and industrial computing
  • Energy conversion
  • Mechanics and quality
